That's okay. Its good to keep a list of goals for the New Year.
2009 will prove to be a challenging year for our city and our nation. With an economy in recession, unemployment at record levels and seemingly endless hikes in taxes and fee's, you may be thinking to yourself "What will the city do next?". If you are, then you have come to the right place!
I started my campaign just a few months ago - but what started officially with a filing at the Board of Elections last July, was only the beginning.
This coming year is especially important to me; I have the opportunity to meet millions of New Yorker's and discuss our city's promising future. A lot is riding on November's election. Though it might seem like a lifetime away, it will come quick and whom we elect will determine the direction our city moves in over the next four years.
Today, I present to you my New Year resolutions. You wont find "...lose 20 pounds." (that will come naturally from all the doorbells I will be ringing) and you wont read about how "I need to make more time for myself." (during these difficult times we need leaders, and we need each other) Instead, you will find a list of promises - of hopes - of goals.
My New Year's Resolutions, as your candidate for Public Advocate are:
- To independently fight for all New Yorker's, across all five borough's, for a better and more accountable government
- To present fresh new idea's about economic opportunities and development in our city
- To fight for better, affordable, transportation in every borough and discussing solutions to our growing traffic problems
- To be a voice for lower taxes and less government
- To ensure that we don't forget the errors of our past, and continue to keep New York City the safest large city in the country
- To engage community leaders, elected officials, commuters, students and all citizens, young and old, in our city about what they want their government to do over the next four years
- To fight for the middle class New Yorker, like myself and my family, for more affordable housing, lower taxes and better city services.

No offense, but I think you should run to eliminate the position.
No need for a Pub Advocate. The concept is insulting to taxpayers, particularly GOPers such as myself.

I am interested in finding out more about YOU!Your goals and fresh ideas could give NY a jump start in 2009. Although anonymous 2 finds the PA unappealing, I think it can work to better the morale and lifestyle of the city. It is a very important position that has not yet seen its day.
My goal is to see reconnection with a public face. Hope you can make it happen. Good Luck.
